The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the First Responder Center for Excellence have taken a leadership role in supporting cardiovascular research and devising programs to help decrease the toll of cardiac disease in the fire service. We are collaborating with leading researchers from LSU Health School of Medicine
and Skidmore College’s First Responder Health and Safety Lab on this pressing issue. Dr. Denise Smith and her team are conducting a brief survey to better understand the incidence of various cardiovascular conditions in the fire service. This is an important step to understanding the problem so we can better target screening and treatment programs in the future.
Please take a few minutes to read the project description, complete the survey, and share with your fellow firefighters. Also, please ask friends or family members who are not in the fire service to take the survey. Having a robust group of non-firefighter participants is important for analysis of the data and comparison to a control group. Please complete the survey by
All collected responses will be anonymous. Answers to the survey will be accessible only to approved members of the research team, based at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.
